Education– Coffee High School in Florence; Florence State College  (now University of North Alabama), bachelor’s degree; University of Florida, Ph.D., 1972. Taught at the University of South Carolina, 1971-1977; Columbia College, writer-in-residence after 1977. Member of the Modern Language Association, Authors Guild, American Committee for Irish Studies, International Thriller Writers,  and South Atlantic Modern Language Association.
