KIRBY, OTIS E., 1897-1989.

Biography;

Methodist clergyman.  Born–St. Clair County, December 31, 1897.  Parents–Lasley Stewart Kirby and Nannie Lee Spradley Kirby.  Married– Catherine Evans.  Children–two.  Married Ida Elizabeth Price Speakes, February 6, 1977.  Education–Attended the University of Alabama; Birmingham-Southern, B.A., 1924; Yale Divinity School; Emory Divinity School.  Taught at Birmingham-Southern, 1926-28 ; admitted to the Methodist Conference of North Alabama, 1928. Served Methodist churches in North Alabama for 38 years, including the First United Methodist Church of Decatur.  Served as District Superintendent for the Decatur District; on the Board of Trustees of Birmingham-Southern. Died October 30, 1989.
