Education– Austin Peay State University; University of Connecticut, B.A., 1944; Peabody College, M.A., 1948; Vanderbilt University, Ph.D., 1952. Taught at Vanderbilt, 1955-1956, 1957-1964; University of Alabama, Huntsville, 1964-1985; founder and first chair of UAH English Department. Member– American Association of University Professors, Huntsville Literary Association, Modern Language Association. Died December 4, 2008.
