Baptist clergyman.┬áBorn– October 25, 1908, Whatley, Clarke County, Ala. Parents– James William and Martha (Kelly) Macon. Married– Emily May Bodden. Education– A.B., Howard College, 1933; D.D., 1949; Th.M., Southern Baptist Seminary, 1938. Employed as minister, Bay Minette, Athens, Atmore, Bessemer, Ala., West Point, Ga. Member– Alabama Baptist Board, Radio and Television Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, Historical Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, and the executive committee for the Southern Baptist Encyclopedia; president, Alabama Baptist State Convention; editor and business manager, Alabama Baptist. Died November 15, 1965.
