Honors– Alumnus of the Year for Journalism, Samford University, 1964; Alabama Sports Writer of the Year (10 times); Alabama Associated Press Sportworthy Award (11 times). Inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, 1982. Died September 25, 1969.
