Worked as farmhand, logger, teacher, then became a Methodist minister and served as a pastor for over forty years, with churches at Luverne, Lapine, Abbeville, Opp, Elba, Wetumpka, Clanton, Demopolis, Hartford, Florala, Opelika, Greenville, Dothan, Panama City. Retired by 1961. Executive secretary, State Commission on Alcoholism.
