Biography;

Writer, illustrator. Born– May, 1922, Fort Payne, Ala. Parents– James Andres and Vera Sue (Small) Johnson. Married– Burdetta Faye Beebe, October 11, 1961. Education– Howard College, B.S., 1943. Served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1943-1945; field executive for the Boy Scouts of America in Anniston, Ala., 1946-1951; U.S. Marine Corps, 1951-1964; retired as major, 1964, and devoted full time to writing and illustration; lives in Santa Fe, N.M. He and his wife, who wrote under the name of B. F. Beebe, collaborated on many wildlife and adventure books for young people. Died July 20, 1997.
