Taught in Tampa Public Schools, 1957-1963; research assistant, Florida State University, 1963-1965; taught at Auburn University, 1965-1995. Member of National Council of Teachers of English and other professional organizations. Awarded emeritus status on his retirement at Auburn, 1995.
