Holds and Recalls
Be sure to ask any of the Libraries' staff if you need assistance.
If an item you want is checked out to another user, you may place a hold on it or recall it by clicking the “Hold, Recall, Request” link displayed on the right side of the item record in the Libraries Catalog.
Holds and recalls can only be placed by UA faculty, staff, and students. Holds and recalls may not be placed on items that are not checked out.
A hold is a request to get an item after the current borrower returns it. A hold should only be placed when an item is not immediately needed. A hold does not change the current borrower’s due date, but prevents the current borrower from renewing the item. Placing a hold on an item will put your name on a requestor list for the item. When the item becomes available, you will be notified and it will be held for you for 10 days.
A recall is a request to have an item returned as soon as possible. The current borrower will have 14 days to return the item. Failure to return a recalled item by the new due date will result in a $1.00 per day fine. When the item becomes available, you will be notified.
