Parents&#8211; Leslie B. and Carrie Cayce. Married&#8211; Gertrude Evans. Children&#8211; Three. Education&#8211; through eighth grade at local schools in Hopkinsville; widely read on his own. Trained as an apprentice in the photography studio\u00a0 of W.R.Bowles in Bowling\u00a0Green, Kentucky.\u00a0 Began psychic readings early in his life. Lived in Alabama 1912-1926;\u00a0\u00a0 worked as a reporter for the Anniston Star, for Russell Brothers photographic studios in Anniston, for Tressler photographic studio in Montgomery and at a studio which he later owned in Selma. Moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 1925 and worked as a professional psychic. In 1931, founded the Association for Research and Enlightenment to keep records of his cases. Became known as the &#8220;Sleeping Prophet&#8221; because he would put himself into a trance to diagnose ailments and prescribe treatments. Several books of his writing were compiled after his death.
