Born&#8211;September 4, 1925, Oxford, Alabama. Parents&#8211; Ralph and Hermione Carter.\u00a0 Married&#8211; India Thelma Walker.\u00a0 Children&#8211; four.\u00a0 Education&#8211;Attended the School of Journalism at the University of Colorado for one year.\u00a0 Served in the U.S. Navy in WWII.\u00a0\u00a0 Worked as a radio broadcaster in Alabama; at station WILD, Birmingham, 1953-55.\u00a0\u00a0A rabid segregationist during the 1950s and 1960s; served as a speech writer for George Wallance during that time.\u00a0 Ran for\u00a0governor of Alabama in 1970; after losing the election moved to Florida and began a new career as a novelist using the pseudonym Forrest Carter.\u00a0\u00a0His novel <em>R<\/em><em>ebel Outlaw<\/em>\u00a0<em>Josey<\/em> <em>Wales<\/em> was made into a movie starring Clint Eastwood.
