Education&#8211; University of Alabama, B.A., 1948.\u00a0 Served in U. S. Marine Corps, WWII, 1940-44.\u00a0 Worked for the Birmingham Age Herald, 1948-1950; and the Birmingham Post Herald after 1950, when it was merged with the Birmingham Post; at various times reporter, editorial writer, columnist, sportswriter. Wrote a popular column, &#8220;People and Things,&#8221; on local life. (Book is a compilation of these columns.) \u00a0Honors&#8211; Received Purple Heart; Ernie Pyle Memorial Award, 1972; received awards for his writing from AP, UPI, and SDX.
