Education&#8211;Howard University, B.S., University of Chicago, B.Music,; Samford University, Master of Education\u00a0and Ed. Specialist; UAB, Ph.D.\u00a0 Played clarinet and saxophone \u00a0with several well-known national \u00a0jazz bands.\u00a0 Music director at Lincoln Elementary School, 1950-1977;\u00a0 music director and program specialist for Birmingham school system.\u00a0 Helped found the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame; later its executive director (1998-2001)\u00a0and director of education.\u00a0Active in local musical events and musical education. \u00a0Inducted into the first class of the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, 1978.
