Established Dept. of Journalism, Memphis State University, 1956. Researcher for Harry S. Truman&#8217;s Truman&#8217;s Memoirs, May-December, 1954. The Herbert Lee Williams Award for excellence in teaching is awarded each year by the School of Communications at Memphis State University.
