Harvard University Honorary scholarship, 1968; Florida nominee, Rhodes Scholarship, 1972; honorary mention, Pushcart Prize, 1982.  Taught English and was principal, Lovett School, 1974-1979; southeast director of Independent Educational Services, 1980-1983; writer-in-residence and chair, English Dept., Asheville School, 1983-.  Member&#8211;  Authors Guild, Poets and Writers, Modern Language Association, National Association of Independent Schools&#8217; Writers, Modern Language Association, National Association of Independent Schools&#8217; Academic Services Committee, National Council of Teachers of English.
