Education&#8211; Mississippi State College, B.S., 1928; studied under Hudson Strode at University of Alabama for three years. In years before World War II worked as a\u00a0statistical clerk in agricultural economics and agronomy; a timekeeper on a banana plantation in Central America for two years; served in U.S. Army in World War II; after 1945 worked in Jitney Jungle supermarket in Tuscaloosa.
