Employed as a vocational education teacher, South Carolina Department of Education, Madison, 1935-1941; farm supervisor, Farm Security Administration, Spartanburg, 1941-1943; U.S. Soil Conservation Service, Spartanburg, S.C., Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hartwell, Ga., 1943-1947; Progressive Farmer, Birmingham, Ala., associate editor, 1947-59; photographic editor, 1959. Served in the Peace Corps in Malaysia, 1973-76.
