Author, chiefly of children’s books.\u00a0 Born– November 7, 1896, Richmond, Ala. Parents– Joseph Dill and Annie Hearst Alison. Married– Carl Christian Johansen, May 1, 1923. Education– Converse College, 1912-14;\u00a0 University of Alabama, 1918; Columbia University,\u00a0 1922.\u00a0\u00a0 Collaborated with her sister, Alice Alison Lide, on many of her books, and wrote a series of books for boys under the pseudonym Hugh McAlister.\u00a0Member Delta Delta Delta and Theta Sigma Phi. President of the Austin, Texas, Quill Club. \u00a0Died December 28, 1959.<\/p>\n
