Education– Alabama State College, B.A., 1938; University of Michigan, M.A., 1945,\u00a0and Ed.D., 1955.\u00a0 Post doctoral study at Teachers College, Columbia University.\u00a0 Taught\u00a0at Marengo County Training School, 1928-30;\u00a0in Shelby County, Alabama, 1939-46; in Waynesboro, Virginia, 1946-48. Professor, Head of the Department of Elementary Education, \u00a0and Director of the Early Childhood Education Center at Alabama State University, 1949-1972.\u00a0 Served as president of the\u00a0Alabama State Teachers Association and of the\u00a0Alabama Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. A member of the \u00a0Alabama Advisory Committee on Early Childhood Education, and the American Association of Elementary-Kindergarten-Nursery Educators. Zelia Stephans Evans Education is an educational organization named in her honor. Died October 6, 1995.<\/p>\n
