Ordained to the ministry in the Methodist Church; served churches in Montgomery, Marion, Auburn, and Selma, as well as Spartanburg,\u00a0S.C. Filled various leadership positions in his denomination.\u00a0 Published articles in church journals. \u00a0Awarded honorary\u00a0Litt.D., Birmingham-Southern College.\u00a0Died May 12, 1969.<\/p>\n
