Education&#8211; Mercer University, B.A., 1914, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Th.D., 1918. Ordained; 1910. Student pastor; Georgia and Kentucky. Pastor; Barnesville, Savannah, Ga.; Portsmouth, Va.; Meridian, Miss.; Huntingdon, W.Va.; Mobile, Ala. (1931-1932). First Executive Secretary of the Historical Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.\u00a0 Instrumental in getting 6.6 million pages of rare Baptist books, periodicals, and church records microfilmed.\u00a0 Oversaw the publication of the two-volume Encyclopedia of Southern Baptists, published in 1958.\u00a0 Edited a Baptist paper in West Virginia and served as Associate Editor of the Quarterly Review, 1951-59.\u00a0 Died February 9, 1968.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Encyclopedia of Southern Baptists, Supplement.
