Usage statistics for the analog Cabaniss collection over the past 5 years are listed below. These numbers indicate the number of times the analog collection for S. D. Cabaniss was requested in the reading room each year.

  • 2005 - 1
  • 2006 - 1
  • 2007 - 1
  • 2008 - 6
  • 2009 - 4

We ascribe the jump in accesses in 2008 to the NHPRC-funded processing of this important collection, under the "Bringing Alabama's African American History to Light" (NARA06GRANT-048) effort. However, processing must be followed by digitization to provide the widest possible access to content.

Thus, during the five-year period prior to digitization, there were 13 requests for the analog collection.

There have been four requests for access to the analog collection materials since the grant began, three in the fall of 2010 and one in February 2011. There has also been one email request, for copies of all the contents of box 48, folder 2 (in January, 2010, before we had it digitized).

As usage statistics are collected for the digital collection (using Google Analytics), they will be displayed here.
