monthly GB counter consists of

  1. monthly_gb_counter.bat
  2. testdate.bat
  3. totaler.bat
  4. gb_count.txt
  5. running_count.txt
  6. running_tally.txt
  7. final_count.txt
  8. readme_mgbc.txt

Get this script

  1. For a copy of the script down load each of these components and save to a folder named monthly_gb_counter on your c:/ drive
  2. Image:Monthly gb counter.txt This file needs to be renamed with the .bat extension to work.
  3. Image:Testdate.txt This file needs to be renamed with the .bat extension to work.
  4. Image:Totaler.txt This file needs to be renamed with the .bat extension to work.
  5. Image:Readme mgbc.txt

monthly_gb_counter.bat

This file calls the testdate.bat and the totaler.bat files to do the search query This file has extensive documentation in the body of the file itself

testdate.bat

used by the monthly_gb_counter.bat file This file has extensive documentation in the body of the file itself

totaler.bat

used by the monthly_gb_counter.bat file This file has extensive documentation in the body of the file itself

gb_count.txt, running_count.txt, running_tally.txt, final_count.txt

  1. these files are created by the .bat scripts and are used to hold the file info as the script runs
  2. once the script is finished the final_count.txt file will have the report of how many files and how many megabytes were found during the search.

readme_mgbc.txt

  1. This readme file has directions on how to use the monthly_gb_counter tool
