Jody DeRidder is the head of [metadata &] digital services, there is nothing that gets done that she didn't have something to do with. Jody is a fountain of technical, logistical, and problem solving knowledge and ability. Her facility to see a way out of all of our complicated problems quickly and easily makes the digital program tick. Apart from that, she is also the most awesome boss that has ever lived. Seriously, even if you have never met her you should still be sad that she is not your boss.

I want to thank all of you for the many ways in which you have enriched my life over the past 9 years.  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to represent you on the faculty senate and numerous other committees here at UA and elsewhere.  Thank you for the discussions, the ideas, the feedback, and the support you have provided over the years.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity, with your help and support, to build a very successful, production-oriented digitization program here at UA Libraries, complete with digital preservation support (which ensures long-term access to our valuable materials), and a unique open-source delivery system. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to develop and work with an incredible, motivated team about whom I cannot say enough wonderful things.

It’s time for me to find new opportunities for professional growth and development.  I have accepted another position, and my last day here will be July 28th.  As of August 14th, I will be the Director of Metadata Frameworks at OCLC.  Perhaps our paths will cross again.

Thank you again for all the meaning, purpose, and joy you brought to my life. And thank you most of all for your passion for librarianship and the archival profession.  I wish you all the best.

From Jody to the University Libraries on June 27th, 2017:
