ImageMagick:

Background:

ImageMagick is a suite of open-source command line image editing tools. There is no graphical user interface to speak of, instead the tools are designed for use by any number of programmatic methods for image creation and processing. There are API's for several languages available, however any scripting language or other means of producing an operating system call can be employed to control ImageMagick's tool set. And that is why we like it so much! (not to mention in terms of batch processing speed, it blows the doors off of Photoshop.)

Where ImageMagick is Used in the Pipeline:

  • Batch conversion of file formats for making web derivatives and other access copies.
  • Repair work on large sets of images that need state based changes.
  • Collecting information from images for reporting.
