* CAMERA NOT TURNING ON? If the power to the camera is unexpectedly cut (you unplug it, there is a power outage, etc.), when it reboots it will need some intervention. Otherwise, the camera will appear to not be working (i.e., the front readout will stay blank, like it's turned off). You will need to climb onto a stool and look down at the top of the camera so you can respond to the message it displays there. Then, the front readout should come on and the camera should operate as normal.

====Small Station/Desk====
* 7D (215) = 50mm

* 7D (216) = 50mm

This is because we only have two 50mm lenses and the 5D Mk III is the only camera that is suitable for the 100mm. If the 14mm wide angle is needed for larger scans, it must go on the 7D in 216.

Revision as of 14:12, 12 February 2014

We have the following models of camera for use in digitization.

Contents

In Use

Canon EOS 5D, Mk III

  • Location: in room 214, on the old captureback workstation (Snapdragon)
  • Use For Items: small, medium, large, oversize, bound (book cradle)
  • Specs: 22 megapixel high-sensitivity, high-resolution, large single-plate CMOS sensor allows for very detailed captures
  • Lens Compatibility
    • 50mm lens is optimal
    • 100mm lens is optimal
    • 14mm wide angle lens is fine
  • CAMERA NOT TURNING ON? If the power to the camera is unexpectedly cut (you unplug it, there is a power outage, etc.), when it reboots it will need some intervention. Otherwise, the camera will appear to not be working (i.e., the front readout will stay blank, like it's turned off). You will need to climb onto a stool and look down at the top of the camera so you can respond to the message it displays there. Then, the front readout should come on and the camera should operate as normal.

Canon EOS 6D

  • Location: room 215, on the new desktop workstation (Sixshot)
  • Specs: 20 megapixel CMOS sensor allows for detailed captures
  • Use For Items: small, medium, large
  • Lens Compatibility
    • 50mm lens is optimal
    • 100mm lens is optimal
    • 14mm wide angle lens should not be used (due to lighting and limited height)

Canon EOS 7D

  • Specs: 18 megapixel CMOS sensor takes somewhat less detailed captures than the 5D Mk III or 6D

Small Station/Desk

  • Location: room 215, on the old desktop workstation (Galvatron)
  • Use for Items: small, medium
  • Lens Compatibility:
    • 50mm lens is optimal
    • 100mm lens will not be very useful (except to shoot very small items)
    • 14mm wide angle lens should not be used (due to limited height)

Large Station/Table

  • Location: room 216, on the old scanback workstation (Optimus Prime)
  • Use For Items: small, medium, large, oversize, bound (book cradle)
  • Lens Compatibility
    • 50mm lens is optimal
    • 100mm lens will not be very useful (except to shoot very small items)
    • 14mm wide angle lens is fine

Not in Use

Canon EOS 5D, Mk I

  • Former Location: room 215, on the reconfigured bookdrive workstation (then named Weirdwolf)
  • Lens Compatibility
    • 50mm lens is optimal
    • 100mm lens will not be very useful (except to shoot very small items)
    • 14mm wide angle lens should not be used (due to lighting)
  • SOFTWARE COMPATIBILITY ISSUES: This model is not compatible with our current version of EOS Utility, so this workstation is not currently in use
