Policy on Computer Stations

Only University of Alabama students may use computer stations in the Sanford Media Resource and Design Center (The Sanford Media Center). No proxy forms may be used.

Anyone checking out computer stations must have a valid UA Action Card. No other form of ID will be accepted.

Computer stations may circulate up to four hours and may be renewed if no other patrons are waiting for a station.

There is a reservation system so that patrons may schedule times, in advance, for computer station sessions. After 15 minutes into a scheduled session, a late Patron forfeits his or her reservation. At any time during a session, if a patron vacates a station for more than 15 minutes, then that patron forfeits his or her reservation.

Saving work prepared at the computer stations is the sole responsible of the patron. The Sanford Media Resource and Design Center and the University of Alabama Libraries accept no responsible for loss of or damage to patron files. Before leaving The Sanford Media Center, a Patron should store their completed project files or their in-progress session files to some form of digital media, which can be purchased at The Sanford Media Center. Non-system files will be deleted on a regular basis.

Patrons should begin and end their station sessions by checking in/out at the Help Desk.

The late fee for Computer stations is $10 an hour.   When patrons are finished with a session, they should make a staff member aware so the station can be checked in for recirculation. Patrons are responsible for any damage done to computers   while checked out to their account and will be charged a replacement fee of up to $2000.
