Self-serve photocopiers are available in Gorgas Library, Bruno Business Library, McLure Education Library, and Rodgers Science and Engineering Library.
The cost of copies is $.05 each for black and white copies. A color copier is available in the Copy Center and in the 3rd floor elevator lobby in Gorgas Library. The cost of color copies is $0.15 each.
Photocopying at the Hoole Library is done by one of the members of the Hoole staff. The staff of the Hoole Library reserves the right to deny requests for photocopying due to matters of confidentiality, condition, or copyright restrictions. Where are self-service copiers located?
Gorgas Library: The copy center is located on the first floor. Equipment in this room includes four copiers and an Action Card/Community User Card Value Transfer Station. One of the copiers will copy in color. Assistance with copying is available in the copy center.
Additional copiers are located on the second floor in the current periodicals/reserves area and on floors 3 (color copier) and 4M in the elevator lobby.
Bruno Business Library: The copy center is located on the ground floor across from the circulation/reserve desk. Equipment in this room includes four copiers and an Action Card/Community User Card Value Transfer Station.
Two additional are available on floor 1.
McLure Education Library: Two copiers and an Action Card/Community User Card Value Transfer Station. are located on the main floor. There is an additional copier in the curriculum materials area on the basement level.
Rodgers Science and Engineering Library: The copy center is located on the first floor across from the circulation/reserve desk. Equipment in this room includes three copiers and an Action Card/Community User Card Value Transfer Station. Another copier is located on the second floor.
How do I purchase a Copy Card (Community User Card)?
Only Community Users and University departments should have to purchase a card. All UA students, faculty and staff should be able to use their Bama Cash Accounts on their Action Card to make copies.
Community Users: Action Card/Community User Card Value Transfer Stations are located in Gorgas Library, Bruno Business Library, McLure Education Library, and Rodgers Science & Engineering Library. A permanent, reusable Copicard may be purchased from the dispenser for $1.00 ($.60 of copying value and $.40 for the card itself). After paying the initial cost of a Community User Card, you may add value to your card for photocopying. When you add value to your Community User Card, be sure to check the balance displayed on your card before you leave the copy area.
University Departments: Please complete a Departmental Transfer and take it to the Action Card Office in the Student Services Building. There is a one-time fee of $3.00 for the card.
How do I add money to my Action Card / Copy Card?
Money can be added to your Action Card / Copy Card at the Value Transfer Stations located in Bruno, Gorgas, Rodgers, and McLure. Ther are also Value Transfer Stations located at the Ferguson Center and in the Tutwiler Dorm.

How do I use my Action Card / Copy Card to make copies?
When you insert an Action Card / Copy Card into the card reader attached to the copier, the balance on the card is displayed. As you copy, the cost of each page copied is automatically subtracted from your Action Card / Copy Card. Remember to remove your Action Card or Copy Card from the card reader when you have finished copying!
How do I report a problem with photocopying?
In Gorgas Library
7:30 - 5:00: Please pick up the help phone located on the column in the Copy Center or report the problems to the Business Office in room 101 Gorgas Library.
5:00 - closing: Please report the problems to the assistant on duty in the Copy Center or call 310-1005 for assistance.
When you are in one of the other libraries, report equipment failure or problems with copy quality to staff at the circulation desk.
May I get a refund?
Be careful to inspect your photocopies regularly as you are copying because the Libraries will refund the cost of only one copy if a machine is reproducing defective copies.
Microform reader/printers
Printing from microforms using an Action Card / Copy Card is available in each of the libraries. Copies cost $.05 each.
