| Note on Locating Dissertations and Theses:
A sizable portion of research done on education in Alabama is found in doctoral dissertations and Master’s theses. The Education Library holds all dissertations and theses completed within the College of Education at the University. These maybe searched by author, title or subject. All dissertations completed before 1978 carry a call number beginning with D 378. These items are shelved on the third floor of McLure Library, near the elevator. All dissertations after 1978 carry the appropriate Library of Congress call number and are shelved in the general collection. Dissertations completed at other institutions may be located by use of the Dissertations & Theses database. Dissertations & Theses at University of Alabama includes citations and abstracts for those done at UA in all departments. For the majority of titles after 1996, a preview of the first 24 pages is provided, as well as the full text, which can be downloaded for free by authorized University of Alabama users. |
