Library in Clark Hall ca. 1900The W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library offers tours of its facilities to visitors and to groups on the University of Alabama campus and the community. Advanced notice is required.  For faculty wishing to bring a class to the Hoole Library, we ask that you give us several weeks advanced notice if possible, so that we can prepare adequately for your visit. We are limited in the number of students we can accommodate because we do not have a classroom or auditorium in the library.

Visitors to The University of Alabama are encouraged to visit the W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library. The lobby area serves as an exhibit space and features exhibits throughout the calendar year.To see what is only display currently at the Hoole Library, click here.

University of Alabama professors should contact Hoole directly with regard to classroom visits and bibliographic instruction at the Hoole Library. If you would like to arrange a tour or talk, please contact us at Archives. University of Alabama faculty members are especially encouraged to contact us for class visits to the Hoole Library, working in concert to develop class projects that take advantage of the wealth of materials housed in the W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library.

We ask that you provide us with ample time (at least several weeks) and information prior to the session, as we have limited physical space for class visits. It is advisable to contact us prior to the beginning of the semester, and when assembling your syllabus in order to make certain that the time and date you would like is available. We ask that you provide an electronic copy of your syllabus as part of the initial contact.

Please send your request for class instruction to archives@bama.ua.edu or contact the Hoole Library at 205.348.0500.
