Confederate States of America War Department Nitre and Mining District 10 Collection, 1864 October 4
Letter dated 4 October 1864, from W.H.C. Price, Superintendent of the C.S.A. War Department Nitre and Mining District 10, requesting that P.J. Weaver furnish the government with "the dirt under the houses on your plantation" for "the manufacture of Nitre" and also the wood and water needed to process it and five "negro men" and a wagon and team for sixty days. Price states that "the necessity" for Weaver's cooperation is "urgent."

A slave pass written by C.T. Conn, requesting that his slave Nelson be allowed to visit his wife, 31 January 1857.

Susan Fenimore Cooper collection, c. 1850- c. 1902
This collection consists of a single bound volume titled "Floral Album" on the spine. The book itself contains a few plates of flowers, and numerous blank pages, which the owner employed to collect autographs. Among the autographs are the entire Cabinet of President Franklin Pierce, and Confederate General Edmund Pettus.

William Cooper diaries and photograph, 1864-1887
The collection consists of six diaries for 1864, 1867, 1876, 1882, 1884, and 1887, and a photograph of Cooper in his later years. The diaries contain daily entries made by Cooper and, in his absence from home, his wife, and give a great deal of information about the community, his activities, and his family.

Corry family papers, 1851-1982
Papers of three generations of the Corry family of Walker County, Alabama, spanning the years 1851-1982. The papers of Joseph Moritmer Corry reflect the development of Walker County during the latter part of the nineteenth century, especially the coming of the railroad and the ensuing growth of the coal mining industry. Benjamin Franklin Corry's papers are especially rich in material relating to the small, family-owned coal mines common in the early twentieth century. His papers also reflect life in the Indian Territory (Oklahoma), where he lived for twenty years.
