Academic OneFile - contains a wide range of articles across disciplines. Though most articles are in English, subject areas include history, economics, literature, and popular culture. FT
Academic Search Premiere - contains a wide range of scholarly and popular articles. Full text coverage dates vary according to the publication, but most titles are available from 1965 to the present. FT
Academic Universe (Lexis-Nexis Academic) – includes searchable text of 53 French newspapers. Select “News” on the home page, then “Non-English Language News,” and a language. Click on “Source List” to see a list of publications and dates in the selected language. FT
American Humanities Index – indexes 700+ literary and scholarly journals, 1975-present.
Arts and Humanities Citation Index – comprehensive online version (1985-present) of the print work of the same name, available through ISI Web of Science.
Expanded Academic Complete ASAP - contains a wide range of scholarly and popular articles from 1980 to the present. FT
Ethnic Newswatch – newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic, minority, and native press. Although the articles are mostly in English and Spanish, the database contains articles about pays francophones and French Canada. FT
Historical Abstracts - indexes hundreds of journals in the social sciences and humanities. Articles cover world history excluding North America. Some full text. FT
Project Muse – a full-text collection of journals published mostly by university presses and learned societies. FT
Research Library Complete - offers indexing and full-text scholarly and popular articles on a broad ranges of topics from 1986 to the present. FT
Literature and Linguistics
ARTFL (Project for American and French Research on the Treasury of the French Language) – a large corpus of French texts, ranging from novels and poetry to biology and mathematics, and extending from the 17th to the 20th century. Includes the Trésor de la langue française dictionary (1606), Diderot’s Encyclopédie, Louis Segond’s Bible, and collections of Provençal poetry and French women writers. FT
Athena – collection of links to French texts on the Internet.
Gallica – database of primarily 19th-century material from the Bibliotheque Nationale de France, including over 100,000 fully digitized volumes and 300,000 digitized images.
JSTOR - a full text collection of journals that includes languages and literatures, and area studies. Dates vary according to title. FT
LLBA (Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts) – abstracts of articles, books, and dissertations in the field of linguistics.
Literature Resource Center – biographies, bibliographies, and critical analysis of 90,000+ authors from ancient times to the present. FT
MLA International Bibliography – The Modern Language Association’s index (1920s-present) of articles, monographs, working papers, proceedings, etc. in the fields of literature, language, linguistics, and folklore.

- Intute – formerly Humbul Arts and Humanities, this British site is dedicated to discovering, evaluating, and cataloging online resources in the humanities.
- European Government Documents - hosted at the University of Michigan, this site offers links to government documents of European countries.
- Language Resource Center at University of Alabama - Click on "student materials" to get a list of resources for French studies tailored to UA student needs.
- RFI language français- Radio France International offers current news and multimedia resources in simplified French for beginners.
- Tex's French Grammar - from the University of Texas, Austin, this site offers useful and entertaining grammatical explanations for students learning the language.
- Voices of the Shuttle – A Web site for humanities research, with links to many valuable sites. Sections include Literatures (Other Than English), Literary Theory, Cultural Studies, and Gender Studies. Available through the Libraries’ Database Page .
- WESS (Western European Studies Section, Association of College and Research Libraries)– A gateway to Internet resources relating to all aspects of Western European Studies. Available through the Libraries’ Database Page .

- Contemporary French and francophone studies (1997-2003) (2004-one year ago)[electronic resource]- covers literature and history, and includes all kinds of critical approaches to debates in the field. Text in English.
- Dix-huitième siècle (PQ261 .D5)- covers the history of Europe of the eighteenth century. Text in French.
- French historical studies (DC1 .F69)- publishes articles in French, reviews, and bi-lingual abstracts of articles on French history from Middle Ages to the present.
- French history [electronic resource]- covers history of France from Francia to Fith Republic. Text in English.
