Subject Databases

MLA (MLA International Bibliography) — Produced by the Modern Language Association of America, consists of bibliographic records pertaining to literature, language, linguistics, and folklore, and includes coverage from 1963 to the present. Provides access to scholarly research in over 3,000 journals and series, and covers books, book chapters, working papers, conference proceedings, bibliographies, and other formats.

Literature Resource Center (LRC) —The Literature Resource Center provides access to biographies, bibliographies, and critical analysis of authors from every age and literary discipline. The LRC covers more than 90,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists, and other writers, with in-depth coverage of 2,000 of the most-studied authors. Search by author name, title, genre, literary movement, or literary themes. LRC contains the following: Contemporary Authors, Scribner Writers Series, and Twayne's Author Series as well as full text journal articles. FT

Literature Online (LION) — A fully searchable library of more than 330,000 works of English and American poetry, drama and prose, plus biographies, bibliographies, and key criticism and reference resources. This resource contains the Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature (1920-present) among other sources. FT

LLBA (Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts) — LLBA provides abstracts of articles from approximately 2,000 serials published worldwide, coverage of recent books, enhanced dissertation listings, from Dissertation Abstracts International, and bibliographic citations for book reviews, that appear in journals abstracted for Sociological Abstracts.

Arts and Humanities Citation Index (also listed as Web of Science) —Online version of the print versions of: Arts & Humanities Citation Index; Science Citation Index; and Social Sciences Citation Index.

LitFinder—Indexes poetry, stories, essays, and plays, some of which are Full Text. (Search the Libraries Catalog using the term “LitFinder.”)

Expanded Academic ASAP—Indexes over 1500 journal titles (including some literary journals) in a variety of subject areas including astronomy, religion, law, history, psychology, humanities, current events, sociology, communications and the general sciences. Articles in over 500 journals are full text.
