Music Circulation Policies

Books, scores, sound recordings, DVDs, VHS tapes, and headphones may be checked out at the Music Library circulation desk. Listening and viewing equipment is available for use in the Music Library. For more detailed circulation policies, see below.
 
Check-out periods and item limits
 
Books and scores
  • Undergraduate students: 30 days, 3 renewals; 100 items total.
  • Graduate students: Fixed due dates of January 31, May 31, and September 30. All items due May 31 must be brought into the library for renewal; 250 items total.
  • Faculty, current and retired: Fixed due dates of January 31, May 31, and September 30. All items due May 31 must be brought into the library for renewal; 500 items total.
  • Professional Staff, Administrative Staff, current and retired; Fixed due dates of January 31, May 31, and September 30. All items due May 31 must be brought into the library for renewal; 250 items total.
  • Staff, System Employees: 30 days, 3 renewals; 100 items total.
  • Community Users: 30 days, 1 renewal; 5 items total.
  
Sound recordings, DVDs, and videos
 
  • Faculty: 14 days, 1 renewal; 20 sound recordings, 10 video recordings total
  • Graduate students: 14 days, 1 renewal; 10 sound recordings, 6 video recordings total
  • Undergraduate students: 3 days, 1 renewal; 5 sound recordings, 3 video recordings total
  • Staff: 3 days, 1 renewal; 5 sound recordings, 3 video recordings total
  • All other patrons: In-library use only
  
Bound Periodicals
 
  • Faculty: 5 days, 1 renewal 
  • Graduate students: 5 days, 1 renewal
  • All other patrons: In-library use only
  
Current Periodicals and Reference Books
 
  • Current periodicals and reference books cannot be checked out. They may be used only in the libraries.
 
Non-Circulating Scores (Call Numbers M1 through M3)
 
  • These scores may only be checked out by Faculty and Graduate Students. They have a loan period of 14 days, with 1 renewal.
 
Headphones
 
  •  Headphones are checked out for 4 hours, and may be used only in the library.
 
Fines for Overdue items
 
  • Books and scores: 25¢ per day per item, $10.00 maximum
  • Sound recordings, DVDs, and videos: $1.00 per day per item, $20.00 maximum
  • Bound Periodicals: $1.00 per day per item, $20.00 maximum
  • Non-Circulating Scores (Call Numbers M1 through M3): $1.00 per day per item, $20.00 maximum
  • Headphones and hourly reserves: $1.00 per hour, $20.00 maximum
  • Daily reserves: $2.00 per day per item, $20.00 maximum
 
 Fines for Lost and Damaged Items
  • All items that are 60 days overdue are automatically declared lost, and replacement and processing fees, as well as the maximum overdue fine for the item, are charged to the patron's account. If an item is returned in good condition within one year, the replacement fee may be refunded. The processing fee and overdue fine are non refundable.
  • If a damaged item is returned, it will be repaired (if possible), and the patron's account will be charged for the cost of the repairs. If the item cannot be repaired, the appropriate replacement fee will be charged.
