Books-in-Print with Reviews
(Infotrac)
Books-in-Print (Infotrac) contains citations to books currently in print. Many out-of-print books are also cited. Full-Text reviews are available for many of the books
How do I start using Books-in-Print?
> Simply click "Books-in-Print with Reviews" on the Libraries’ database list.
Author or Title Searching
Click Author or Title Search
on the left side of the screen if you have this information.
Type in the name of the author (you do not have to type it in last name first).
Advanced Searching
Click Advanced Search on the left side of the screen to find a topic.
Just type descriptive keywords and leave the menu set to "Select index".
Advanced search also allows you to limit the search to specific types
of information such as language, price, feature, or ISBN.
> Connect words with AND to find articles that contain both words.
Example: football and baseball finds articles that contain both football
and baseball.
> Connect words with OR to find articles that contain either word.
Example: football or baseball finds articles that contain either football
or baseball.
> Connect words with NOT to find articles that contain one word but
not another.
Example: sports not football finds articles that contain sports but not
football.
> Enclose phrases in quotation marks:
Example: "Baseball Hall of Fame"
> Use an asterick on the root of a keyword to find various endings.
Example: swim* finds swim, swimmer, swimmers, swimming
> Limit your search to : to active statues, books with reviews, date range, langauge, price, feature, ISBN.

How do I view the text of the book review?
Online reviews have the blue message Text under the citations. Other reviews will only have extended citations. Users may find texts of these reviews by searching in the Libraries’ Catalog. (See below)
How do I determine if the library holds a book or a review?
Search in the Libraries’ Catalog for the title of the
book or the journal containing the review:
> Minimize BIP (or print out the citation)
> Click on the Libraries’ Catalog and select "Basic Search".
> Type in the name of the book (or the name of the journal if looking for a
review).
> Highlight "Title" or "author" from the "Find Results
in" menu (or "Journal Title" if looking for a review)
> Click "Search". The book or journal will appear if the library
owns it.
> Write down the Location and Call Number for the book or journal
(for journals, be sure the library owns the appropriate month and year)
How do I print, save, or e-mail?
Printing: Click the Print icon on the left side of the article. Click "OK"
Saving: Even though you are saving, click the Print icon on the left side of the article. Click "Cancel" on the print window and click ‘File" at the top left of the screen. Select "Save As".
Emailing: Click Email or Retrieval on the left side of the article.
Type in your email address. Click "Submit Email Request"
