What is ExtremeSearch?
ExtremeSearch is the University of Alabama Libraries' new federated search solution.

What is federated searching?
Federated searching allows users to simultaneously search many databases through a single interface.

What are the advantages of using ExtremeSearch?
One stop searching capabilities create time savings couple with multi-disciplinary results. Researchers can now search the Libraries' Catalog and article/citation databases through one single interface.

What types of search features are available through ExtremeSearch?
A quick search box will be on the front page of the Libraries' website. A full range of search features, including basic, subject-based, and advanced searching will be available for in-depth searches from the main ExtremeSearch page.

Will searching individual databases still be available?
Yes! At any time, affiliated UA faculty, staff, and students can go directly to the "native" individual database on our databases page.

How will ExtremeSearch be accessed?
Access to ExtremeSearch, gained by clicking on the logo, will be available at multiple user points throughout the Libraries' website.

Do other libraries have ExtremeSearch?
Other major research libraries currently provide simultaneous searching, but ExtremeSearch and the library resources included in its search results are unique to the University of Alabama Libraries.
