Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library

Collection: Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library supports teaching and research needs in humanities, social sciences, and government information. Named in honor of long-time University Librarian Amelia Gayle Gorgas, the library contains over a million books and offers a full range of library services. Gorgas Library provides computers for searching the Libraries’ catalog and other helpful databases as well as for access to the Internet. Reference assistance is available at the Information Center on the ground floor during all hours that the library is open. Also available at this location is adaptive technologies equipment for users with disabilities.

The new Lillie Florence Jones Sanford Media Resource and Design Center on the second floor was created to provide University of Alabama students with a leading edge facility for digital media production. Available resources in The R&D allow students to work in the following areas: graphic design, web design, remote file transfer, page layout, video editing, DVD authoring, audio recording, musical composing, CD authoring, and file format conversion.
