Born June 11, 1769, Baltimore.\u00a0 Grew up in western Pennsylvania.\u00a0 Married William Royall, 1797.\u00a0Educated at home, under the supervision of Royall.\u00a0 After her husband&#8217;s death in 1812 she moved to Alabama and began writing about her travels.\u00a0After a few\u00a0 years she moved again, writing about her travels and experiences in various places.\u00a0 Moved back to Washington, 1831. \u00a0 Founded and edited two Washington DC newspapers, <em>Paul Pry (1831-36) <\/em>and <em>The Huntress <\/em>(1836-1854), both following an editorial policy of advocating against corruption.
